New Variegated african violet

New Variegated african violet (Saintpaulia ionantha)

And why do they never have a name! I love the white velvet ringing the leaves and the purple flowers, at last, purple. I lucked out on an out of bloom purchase.

Really love that color...

I had one that was purple blossom with a white border on the flowers...gorgeous...gave it to a friend to cheer her up,...now I need to get a leaf from her to restart one for myself. I've looked and looked and never found another one like it... lovely plant... are the variegated ones harder to keep, do you think?

Thank you! :-)
This one has been different than my others all along. I find variegates to grow a little slower generally and sometimes need more light to stay variegated. This one is not very thisrty so i'd guess its a little cool. But it'll get used to things. This table seems great for any of this type. I have to be careful or they'll overrun me. :-)

Did you buy a light table? I've wanted one of those for decades!...they are very handy when it comes time to start seeds in the spring.. it's not so bad being overrun by plants, GT...could be worse. There's always room for one more!

Once I start having to hop across the room, i've gone a little overboard. :-) These sit on a little hall table in the east window, They love it.
I have always wanted a light table, especially for these guys and spring seeds. I haven't got one yet and put in a spice cabinet against the only wall I have for it. Maybe if I go to a larger place. I just load up the catwalk for seed starts during spring.

Love the variegated foliage, this one will really shine if it's in or out of bloom with those lovely leaves !

It really drew me, I'd never seen one like it. Going into early winter sleep, now I can see how large the leaves will get. Its really quite tiny right now.
