Ferns in the Loft

Ferns in the Loft

Don't know why they like it so much up there! North window. Kangaroo paw fern and another. I've two philodendron up there too, the big one and one just under the window buried in fern fronds.....lol. Here is where I play music for them on the piano....lol. Maybe thats it?

A lovely sunny interior. Of course the plants will all thrive on the no doubt beautiful music you provide on that good-looking piano.

Lovely... that is what I would call green peace.

Lovely space GT. and amazing plants, bet its the music makes them thrive ! lol.

Thank you all. I think they do like the music. Something makes that fern keep growing.....lol. Bianca prefers to sleep under the kangaroo paw fern just to the left of the window. I find her in that shadow all the time. Light provided by my big sodium lamp of course, they would get no sun otherwise. This ia also my paitning room, so far in thought anyway.......lol!

Lovely, peaceful looking room, they look very happy plants GT.

What a beautiful room! I'll tell myself that it's the lack of music (not the lack of care of course) that made my plants so unhappy!!!

You've got a very nice looking room there, Gt! That fern draws all the attention! It looks very happy where it it is.

Thank you. It amazes me that they are all so content to grow there! Maybe the music is just the ticket. The two fern couldn't be more different but the big hanging one does really draw the eye.

Gonna have to get them some Bach Volval. :-)

No sun ? Oh well I suppose Sodium will have to do...
Maybe the plants ARE particular about WHAT music they get too...

This is a north window, so in Alaska, the sun shines in for about two months of the year June and July. Of course no sun for three months in winter where I live. Never gets over the rise. The lamp makes an enormous difference.

What a beautiful room, amazing considering where you are GT. Whatever it is you're doing, keep doing it...lovely!

Thank you Jj. I am glad that they have done so well. I figured if anything could like a warm north window, a fern or philo could.....lol.

The ferns are always great for shady areas, have you tried bamboo, some of them quite like shade too, I've got fargesia maurelli on a very deep shady North facing wall and it seems quite happy. :o)

Hmmm, thats would fill that blank space by the piano very well too! I will look for it. Thanks Jj. :-)

Your plants are growing very well and look very healthy Greenthumb. They say that some people talk to their plants looks like the music has a similar effect.

24 Mar, 2010

Thanks. I do talk too but music is effective too. :-)

25 Mar, 2010

Thanks Richard. Lots of peace and quiet around here with just me and the cat. She does like sleeping up here when we aren't together.

I have an attic GT but it is so full of things you can't swing the proverbial beast around in there. I look at the ceiling every now and again looking carefully to see if I can see any new cracks in there lol :-o
