Although Charlie and the Rich Brothers and all their hidden helpers

make garden makeovers look easy, it is easy to adapt a garden to failing physical needs by using a professional local man to do a section at a time.
Much cheaper.
I needed a smooth safe surface to push my Rollator Walking Aid over, to work from with long handled tools. My partly broken paving slab path installed by the previous owner caused the front wheel of the aid to get caught in the uneven bits.
So after giving it some considerable thought (necessary for me) I decided to have the curved section straightened and new slabs installed in the upper half.
Asked the efficient local carpenter if he would like the job
and he was only too willing to help.
I would never otherwise have thought of him as a path
slab layer !
I drew a design a la Dimmock/Rich to show what I wanted him to do.
One half is perennial plants in tubs or pots on gravel.
This is labour saving as easy to move them to new locations and add more. The 5 shelf plastic greenhouses
screwed to the wall increase my shade space effectively.

There's never an end to your ingenuity, Diane.
With age one has to think of adapting the garden to suit one's needs. I am beginning to think our garden is too big for us!

Sounds a good plan Diane! You surely will find that a lot easier to cope with.

Eirlys I don't think you are alone there sadly!

Its also a question of making the best use of tools.
I am thinking my clip-on tools are easier to manage as they are lighter in weight.
I always have to hold onto something to support myself, usually a fence. Find the border fork I have had for 60 years can be used for one handed digging in this way.
Taking small tools in a strong polythene bag a good idea.
They dont get lost !
