I have to replant all my Alpine plants and do it properly this time !

Had a feeling I was wrong. Researched ’ How to plant
up a Crevice Garden’ on Google.
Seems I should have forked off all the garden centre compost from the roots. Made each crevice in the rocks
deep with JI3/grit sand in the base.
Then washed the roots to get rid of the original compost.
Then poked them into the crevice with a pencil. Then they would begin to grow attached to the rock.
Their long roots would dangle down and find moisture in the base compost.
Must get some more grit to keep the upper part of the plants firm after planting.
The Dwarf Campanulas seem happy enough so I will leave them for the time being. The new ones were worrying me and this is the solution.

We live and learn once more. A big thank you to SRGC member Maggie who helped me by posting these instructions on line.

what I have learned is that SRGC have hundreds of members all over the world who specialise in this type of gardening. They grow Alpines from seed, some take 3 years to germinate. Even travel on holiday tours to walk in the mountains, finding and photographing these fascinating little plants.
I feel quite humble.
Goyers who dont have much space could look at the website 'How to plant up a Crevice Garden.'
I am wondering now whether the excellent plants on display at SRGC shows are actually growing in pots of rocks ?
