Today in the lovely warm sunshine..

Just a few photos to show different parts of the garden today in the sunshine and you can see the odd areas that have plants in black pots ready to go into the borders, the idea is ‘the fuller they are, the better they look and the less room there is for the dog to get in there to dig.’

The last two photos are of the ‘bad border’ because this is where the plants go to die in our garden. However in the winter it was re dug and then gravelled to stop the dog digging.. Now we’ve q few plants and ornaments to fill it in. This border is on the side next to the road. A private non busy road that is just access to the other houses :)

This final photo shows the Water hawthorn that was just delivered in the post from my internet order at about £3.40 per plant. I bought two. Here they are in a bucket before planting them :) would thoroughly recommend buying online if there are none at your local place :)

Wonder why the plants die in this bed......have you any ideas??

Yeah, usually it's the dog that's dug them out but also neighbouring cats seem to use that one side as their toilet. The cat problem is now sorted. And there's been no more digging since.

Love the idea of fixing a plant support at right angles to the wall - what are you growing up it?

It's just clematis, we're doing everything that we can to make the garden more private in the spring and summer :)it's an archway that goes over the gate but was a little big so had to be fastened to the house :) we will be swapping it for a wooden one this year (we've bought the wooden one) just waiting for the building work to be done now :)

Very wise -those metal ones don't last more than a few years - at least ours hasn't - its held together with binder twine at present.

Our metal one is about two years old and it's already rusting.. We only bought the new one because it was less than half price in the winter/Christmas sales. It's not going to up though until we've had all the house work done as that's the way the workmen will go through to acess the back of the house :)
