OH is digging in manure into the bed for the spuds next year. The green beans, although late coming on we are now inundated with green beans. I have given quite a lot away, but still they come. The cabbages and brussels are doing ok, we have just a couple of heads of calebrese to come. We have celariac doing quite nicely too.

We are talking about putting a poly tunnel on the garden. We do get a bit of wind funeling down the side of the bungalow, but the shed and coal house disapate it. We will have to talk to DS2 about holding it down with steel hoops in concrete.

All the bulbs are in, 3 containers 2 for the front and one to go by the back door. The garden should look ok in the spring, and we will be able to see what else is in the garden.

We are having a bit of a problem trying to keep our next door neighbours garden from taking over ours. We keep pulling stuff out but it still comes through.

The lawn will may be get a bit of a haircut before the end of the month. The new grass has taken very well and is very green, it will just get a little trim.

Twice this week we have lit the fire during the day. Thursday was cold and wet, so I lit the fire and I lit it at lunchtime today. I am fighting not putting the storage heaters on until the end of October. The wood is lasting out well. I will get another load at the end of the month and maybe 3 bags of coal next month.

Ooo, open fires are lovely. Ashamed to say our heating has been on morning and evening for a while now and it doesn't need the ashes taking out in the morning...We only light the fire for occasional treats or if the heating breaks down, which it has twice - once at Christmas...

Looking forward to pics of your garden in spring after all the bulbs you planted!
