I couldn’t face doing all that watering again on sunday,so I opted for role reversal…Russell could do it while I did some painting.!! I donned the appropriate artist apparel,..already spotted with paint ,so quite authentic looking, even if it was only emulsion …and started my project.
Firstly, the preparation, most important to look professional.so ,armed with my wire brush….? yes, that looks better,,I set to work on my masterpiece,,,
and now it looks like this…

What do you think? Lol…and ,no it isn’t a leaning chimney pot,its the blocks it is stood on….or is it me thats wonky? Lol. …

Smart pot, good work there what are you going to plant in it?

Oh that's a beautiful pot Sandra :o)
Great that you gave it a facelift !

Thanks Neellan,This year I am putting a Fuchsia in it.We brought it with us from our previous house, which was built in 1911,so very old. There was no way the builders were going to have it,when it was taken down about 25 years ago.It has been painted before,as it wasn't good cosmetically,as we would have preferred the original colour.Russell put some strong wires inside, where the second rim down is,so it can take a deep plant pot.It always has something in it,according to the season..
It was really ready for a make over Lol.

Glad you like it Hywel,I have always loved it.It stands in the corner by the wall...Like I did sometimes at school .Lol.
Like your new Avatar too,Hywel..:o)

Well done Sandra. I fully approve of the role reversal too.

Great blog, and yet another talent, Bloomer! Now if you feel in the painting mood, I have a couple of doors waiting to be glossed if you're offering.......???LOL! (This reminded me of a Chess piece.......or is that just me????) Fantastic new avatar, Hywel!!! :~))))x

Gosh lol - thak you Sandra and Floribunda xx. I've always used my real name so now I'm using my real face aswell =^..^=

29 Jun, 2010

Very impressive Sandra......and when you've finished glossing for Floribunda....well my living room needs doing.......I could chat to you while you wield your brush....lol
Being serious now.....that is a wonderful chimney; is the fuchsia a trailing one, and don't forget to let us see a pic....
Aha.....the real Hywel!!!.....very nice......

Thanks Flori,so sorry, but I am not allowed to do Gloss,so him indoors does that.I quite like paint runs on a door.Lol.
Now, your room would be ok,,Louise,...Emulsion I have a licence for.Glad you will be there to chat,as I will be sitting on your shoulders,to do the top bit :o)))
Enough,already,..yes,the fuchsia is a trailing one,but it is pink ....unknown variety..as I was given a cutting from a friends hanging basket..
It is on my Avatar( one in the centre),but don't think the colour looks right against the pot.May have to try something else.:o((
Glad to see you are not incognito anymore ,Hywel,Lol.

I love that, Sandra and I, like Floribunda, thought it was a giant chess piece ! Hope it's dried as rain forecast today. I bet you've practised getting gloss to 'run' so you don't have to do the painting . . . . lol !

29 Jun, 2010

Thanks Shirley,I used Masonry paint that we had,and it dries almost immediately,so as I finished one coat,I was able to the second..Sorry about the bad hair day,but didn't know "happy snapper" was going to be around
Lol.How did you guess about the paint runs? we know all these little tricks ,don't we ? A bit like men doing the washing up..break something "accidentally" :o)))

29 Jun, 2010

Lol - breaking something while washing up is something I occasionally do, but as I'm the sole washer-upper I can only curse and carry on !!! I recently saw a chimney pot for sale, half the size of yours Bloomer and they wanted £78 for it ! Suggest you bolt it down ... lol :-)

29 Jun, 2010

Well, it was worth asking I guess......(sigh), my OH doesn't gloss either, so guess it comes down to good old me again :~((
I really do look like my avatar, perky ears, soulful eyes and a lovely wet nose as well~you just ask Spritz or Louise or Ba, but I make sure I never scratch or scoot in polite company, and it does get me out of doing the washing up~woof woof! :~))

looks great sandra, i had two at my old house, shame i left them there ;o(

29 Jun, 2010

I have the solution to all your dish washing problems.......get a dish washer....use the dishes; throw em in; push the button and you'r off!!!!!!!!and they are economical on water too.....
Its strange how men think women can't gloss.....of course we can.!!!......we just don't choose to do it.....we don't want to end up looking like muscle men with all those biceps and things....lol

29 Jun, 2010

Will look super with fuchsia in it. Jx

29 Jun, 2010

Looks great love the old pots can pay a bomb for them .

29 Jun, 2010

I was being a bit unfair,Muddy,as Russell almost always does the washing up,,
I just slope off,out of the way,or say" shall I dry"? knowing full well he will say its ok....Sound familiar,Muddy?..I know the Chimney pots are very expensive Do you want a job as a Security guard ?
Oh,San,why did you leave them? think of all the plants you could have bought with the money..Lol.
Read response to Muddy,Louise..and don't need the hard job of pushing a button either...:o)) that is so hard work !!.I agree,we can gloss, but not keen...
Biceps and muscles.? ..Really?.:o)
Cheers Janey, still thinking of a Fuchsia for it,just not sure of the colour....must call in the fashion police,to see what's "in" this year..Lol......Thanks Clarice,It looks much better now,as all the old paint was flaking off,and its a very long time since it was done....

29 Jun, 2010

lol your right sandra, i love them to, and worth money ;o)

29 Jun, 2010

Thank you Junna..I had forgotten I had posted this blog...you have gone back a long way :o)
It is still looking good, and in pristine condition..so I must have done it right..I still put a Fuchsia in it,as it's ideal for the trailing ones..
