Oh Brian, so very sorry to read this. I know you will give him all your love and care, thinking of you both.

Bjs OH and I are so sorry to hear this news. We hope he can make a full recovery. We have never heard of a dog having a stroke but I guess the symptoms will be similar to humans. This will be a very trying time for you so you do need to look after yourself while he gets over the first stage to recovery. Hopefully as the weeks pass he will improve with the treatments he is having. Our love and best wishes and a big hug to all three of you.

Oh Brian, I am so sorry. If it is any comfort, my old Liver and White Springer Maxi had the same aged 12. She recovered after a while and went on to 17. Vet told us to keep her un stimulated in a dark room for a week. only allowing out for loo breaks. Wishing him all the best. Thinking of you all.

Brian so sorry to hear your sad news - it is heartbreaking when a pet gets ill - but veterinary care is excellent - with medication so much can be done and with your special care I am sure he will do his best to be soon helping you in the garden - best wishes to you all -

Here's wishing Jamie a speedy recovery & best wishes to you too. I hope he goes on to enjoy life for a few more years. You don't mention how old he is? Any animal can have a stroke, a cat of mine did.

Amy I took him to the fields for some exercise for the first time today kept him on the lead but the excitement worry's me he just wanted to run and pull me with him, still the vet says it is alright otherwise he will put on more weight .he is taking 4 blood pressure pills a day at £1.20 a pill plus 2 others ,I may have to start a charity to support him and me if he is on them for to long.Seriously i can buy them on line half the price but will have to pay the vet for a prescription.
that I will do.

The fact that Jamie shows excitement means he still wants to live for you and make you happy Brian ,you will know when he tells you enough is enough ,it broke our hearts when each day our beloved Barney went from bad to worse and started to give us that 'look ' it's difficult to explain ..
Thats a dreadful amount for a BP pill ,I wonder if they are so much different from the ones we take ,doesn't the insurance cover pills ,I don't know I've never look at the tablets side of it . xx

Amy
He has been insured most of his life but when he reached 12 the cost went over £600 a year and with so many exclusions for areas of his body that had been claimed on over the years it no longer seemed worthwhile. Not sure if we would have been able to make a claim for a stroke had I continued did not know dogs could have a stroke and recover.
He won't go short of his medication but might have to turn the heating down a bit (Pauline would not be pleased)lol
Oh and his Birthday is Monday 13 years young
xx

Happy birthday to Jamie for his 13th birthday tomorrow! Glad to hear he is getting a lot better, Brian.

7 Oct, 2018

I'm sure you'll do everything in your power to keep Jamie well and painfree Brian , you'll have to get your long johns out and treat Pauline to some thermal undies ,I'm thinking we'll have to do the same here this year we're going to miss having a wood burner ... xx

Belated Happy Birthday to Jamie.I hope he's continuing to improve. The BP pills sound an awful lot of money, but then as Jamie is part of the family it doesn't matter and you wouldn't begrudge Pauline if she needed them. X
