Another update on my patio

Well its starting to come together now, and i’m becoming more impressed every day.. They didn’t quite get as far as they hoped i think, but they are working on bank holiday monday if they can, to try and catch up a little.. They still need to point everything but i think they are going to leave all the pointing until they have done my drive. I’ve been messing with my plants today placing them in the unfinished borders to try and get an idea of what it will look like and what size pots i need to buy.. I will have to move them all back off it tomorrow lol..

The lawn edge of the patio is going to have the bricks going along the front from one side to the other.

The brick edges are going to go along the front of my garage..

Some of the plants i’ve been saving for a few months, not sure if there going in these borders or not till i look each one up and what soil they like.

.

This is the view from the front of the patio, he is building a retaining wall and if needed a step to finish it off nicely
I’m trying to decide whether or not to put a new border along the front and behind the garage.
I’m going to use that water feature thats sat on the grass, in one of the borders..

Anyway thats it for now i’ll have to take all those plants off in the morning (to be honest i got visitors tomorrow so i may just leave them in till they have gone lol)

Its coming along a treat Bill and is looking grand, won`t be long now and all those plants will be in their place, how many times have you moved them about ? I always think you have to chop and change and view from every angle when filling a new bed or border from scratch but its all good fun..

Thanks Lincslass. It took a while to decide on whether or not to get posher paving, or just get what i could afford without going in any debt. The paver assured me when he's done all the finishing off and with a table/chairs pots etc it would look fine..

The plants have been put in place, then moved quite a bit.. I bought most as deals a few months ago and potted on a few. I still have lots more sitting on the paths around the garden but i need to read up on them, what soil/sun/shade eventual size. I've not really ever thought about it that much until i became a member on GOY. All the advice on this site from people is so useful and the nice comments make all the hard work worthwhile.

Thanks all for your nice comments .. I've moved all the plants again today after my visitors went lol.. Paver may come tomorrow to start another weeks work. Anyone know of any bargains for a 6 seater table and chair set? or a bbq/pots etc.. I had a bloke here for my windows today and he said i he would save the 4 side windows off my bays so i can use them to build coldframes for the back, not a clue how to make them but im guessing a few bricks and hinges will do..

Just been out to guess where? Yes yet another garden centre and bought another bargain lol. A little two seater rattan style table and chairs was £149 half price then 10% membership discount. So was only £67, and a rattan storage box from hb reduced to £39.99. I'm gonna be bankrupt soon lol

Your workmen are doing a fantastic job on the paving...it looks really smart and I agree there was no reason to go into debt to get different paving...this is looking great! And with the rattan style table and chairs and storage box, along with some potted plants grouped about it will look established in no time, Bill.

I think I read on GoY that if you are putting rattan furniture outside and it hasn't been treated you can use yacht paint to protect it...can't give you any more info than that, only it sticks in my memory. Perhaps what you have purchased is the furniture that looks like rattan but has a coating already applied for protection (possibly incorporating some plastic resin or something)?

You've got a great selection of plants there too and they will give your borders structure and fullness so quickly. Good choices.

Thanks Whistonlass for your nice comments. The table and chairs and storage box are only plastic look alike rattan for the side of the house but i will remember (hopefully) the tip of yacht paint if i do buy the real rattan. Thank you again !
