Before and after back border

Thought I’d share my back border mid through transformation. My neighbours have never cut their laurel hedge so I had to bite the bullet and give it a major prune on my side. I did talk to them but to no avail. We took 14 builders bags full of clippings to the local dump! Next step is to dig in soil improver in and then the most fun part is to then plant( weather permitting) my grasses and salvia’s, perovskia’s and nepeta’s.

that is certainly a good revamp. It will soon recover and green up so making a pleasant backdrop.

always nice to get extra planting space.

Thanks. It was very hard work assisting the gardener who came with all the right kit. I’ve added some photo’s from my phone.

My gosh you have gained so much, I certainly don't blame you for biting the bullet and doing it yourself, your neighbours want to be thankful because I believe by law you would have been in your rights to return all those clippings to their garden..Enjoy working your border Amsterdam, looking forward to seeing it next year ...

Ams, that looks as though it was very hard work. Great 'before and after' photos.

Thanks everyone. It did cross my mind to ‘offer’ the clippings to their rightful owner but knowing them they would have told me to #£&* off!!

Another planting area created, you will enjoy restocking it with new greenery. Amazing how much space the hedge had encroached upon!

Just what I was thinking Ange. What a lot of space has been gained. Looking forward to see how it develops over the next year. Thank you for sharing Amsterdam.
