I'm glad angelic Millie didn't get blamed for the damaged plants !
What very hungry tortoises you have, Gee ... they'll turn into those giant Galapogos tortoises !!!!

Hi Gee I've got a tortoise, he is only 5, how old are yours?
Basil can not get into my raised beds but he does love terrorizing the dogs, Lol.

I thought that blog was really funny (sorry Gee). Just had this picture in my mind of Josie eating everything in her path - including the dog!!! :o))

I hope they don't, TT, I have enough trouble now :)

Hi Willinilli, I have had Jubilee since 1977 and the vet estimated her to be between 60-80, Josie has been with me for about 10 years now and she is probably between 80-100 years old.

Josie has really come out of her shell this year, Sheilar, and seems fit to tackle anything and anyone :)

29 Mar, 2012

Ha ha Gee, 'come out of his shell' - I hope not!! lol

I think it's their age Gee...My Gran did whatever she bl@@dy well wanted to do after she was 85.

29 Mar, 2012

Good for your Gran, Pimpernel, I am doing that already! Do you know the poem 'When I am old I shall wear purple' - it says it all. Perhaps Josie and Jubilee know it too :)

Well I have had a good giggle to myself reading this blog, picturing the heavy weight Josie on the rampage! sorry for you and your plants Gee and hope they grow back for you, I moan about the damage the slugs do in my garden but it pales into insignificance with the damage the mighty Josie reeks lol

Wow what a great age they are.
Before I got Basil I had to make sure my son would adopt him when im gone & then have children so they could take over after him.

Fabulous Gee sorry to laugh but I did :o) I hope your plants recover from the onslaught, Love Millie hiding indoors with Teddy!

29 Mar, 2012

I did laugh Gee, think I would be hungry too if I had been asleep all winter. Lol. Great blog. Your garden will recover I'm sure.

Oh Gill , How funny ! well it's not really is it ? what a shame , I hope the plants grow again ... I think you will need to get out your hammer and nails to make them a little compound to keep them in one area ...

Thank you all for your comments. I can see the funny side too :) Nice to 'see' you again, Clarice, I wondered where you were. Hope you are OK :)

I'd missed this one Gee, like everyone I did have a chuckle whilst reading, I didn't realise how heavy a tortoise would be, no wonder your poor plants suffer when they are looking for the tasty ones, it seems they like a very varied diet, lol...
Have to say Millie looked very energetic on that day....

Lol! Poor Millie! I had a customer who bought a load of Sedum from me. She grew it specially for the tortoises who loved it and left most other plants alone.

Oh wow a half a stone tortoise eating herself around the garden, heavy pruning machine more like it.......so funny, well for me, it isn't my garden.lol
Hi Tet how are you? not seen you for a while x

Hi DD bad touch of SAD I think (or more likely FSFM..feeling sorry for myself lol) Just been hard to shift this year! But Gee's pics have cheered me up a tad! Gee do tortoises eat slugs?

8 Apr, 2012

Unfortunately they don't, Tetrach. Just tender salad leaves (and tender plants) plus a little fruit. Glad you feel a little cheered - hope the summer comes quickly for you :)

Thinking of you Tet, keep your pecker up, what about a poem or two?
