Calmer, brighter, warmer days!

Went into the garden this morning and it did feel like spring was in the air.
I have a few photos to share with you all.

The first is the edge of the veg’ patch where I planted all of last year’s bulbs that had been in pots.

My latest purchase is a plant I have wanted for a very long time but we didn’t really have a space for it. It is Verbena Bodnantense. The scent is just delicious!

Our magnolia Stellata is looking pretty at the moment and has been so much happier since we took it out of its pot and planted it in the ground.

Some little clusters of colour!

Our Forsythia is at its best at the moment

It was a misty start to the day – this is the view from my
kitchen door.

Our hellebores have been very reluctant to flower this year but are looking ok now! This is a pretty double one.

Finally some flowers from my favourite place, St Martins on the Isles of Scilly.

I really hope that we will now get lots of opportunities to get out into our gardens and enjoy being there without having to dress for the Arctic!!

lovely looking garden flowers. I often plant house bulbs out and I actually prefer the slightly relaxed hyacinths instead of the tightly stuffed flower spike.

As bulbs go over in the GC I often buy them at reduced cost, feed them and plant them out. the following year they are happy and usually flower. And if they dont they do the following year.

The Viburnum is lovely, a good scent and a pretty colour.

Lovely photos Chris. Glad to see you’ve also just bought Verbena bodnantense like me … mine is still in its pot as I don’t know where to plant it!

Meadowland, pleased that Monty recommended this idea - must be getting something right!!! Glad you have tried it too.

Siris it does lift the spirits after what has seemed like quite a long winter. I love to see the spring flowers.

Sbg ( not long to go now!!) I agree with you about the hyacinths, they do have a softer, lighter appearance and don’t flop like the heavy indoor ones either!

Sheila - Such a relief to read that you don’t know where to plant yours either!! We have a little queue of plants waiting to go in and wonder how long they will be there!!

Klahanie - I did feel very cheerful when I took the photos - we seem to have waited a long time for spring to come this year!

Shirley - yes indeed!!! Raining here again tomorrow ......and the next day etc, etc!!

Chris, I did manage to dig up and divide a large Sedum yesterday as there was no rain. The forecast is much like your part of the country this week, rain at some point every day.

Your garden definitely looks springlike and I love the narcissus you received from your sons.
I wish I had the room to put some of the trees and shrubs in the garden as looking at your magnolia, seems happier there.
Rain here too Chris! We have had some lovely sunny days though!

I always look forward to spring! But then what gardener doesn't? I've been doing what Monty suggested with the spring bulbs every year for some years now! But as I don't have a garden to plant them in I plant them in the church gardens! They are starting to come up lovely now! There are many, many Daffs in flower & plenty more to come as well!

Your garden looks very spring like, Chris! 😃 I love seeing all your bulbs in flower! Our spring bulbs bring such cheer to our gardens after a long dark cold winter!

Shirley - we do have to get out there when we can at the moment and make the most of our opportunities!!

Rose you make room for so many beautiful shrubs and trees in your lovely garden. I think you have definitely had more sunshine than we have!

Balcony what a lovely thing to do - planting your bulbs in the Church gardens. How pretty they must look and will give pleasure to so many people. Spring is such a wonderful time of the year.

Chris, What a joyous start to the gardening year, the view from your kitchen window is delightful. Is Verbena Bodnansence the one that grows into a tree or can it be pruned hard to keep as a shrub.

Hello Stroller. Lovely to see you on here again. Thank you for your very kind comment.
I am hoping we can trim the Verbena to keep it as a shrub as there won’t be enough room for it to become a tree- famous last words!!!

Wildrose, I've uploaded a few pictures I took last week of the Daffodils in flower.
