Signs of spring in the garden - March 1st

I have been away to stay with the family and have come home with the cold to beat all colds!!!

Since returning home, I did, however, in between sneezes, nip outside and take some pictures of anything that might help to cheer me up! Hope you like them too!

The above pictures were taken by the pond which is somewhat overgrown with celandines – a job for another day!!!

I am so pleased to see the wallflowers because they were grown from an out of date packet of seeds ! I love their scent.

There, that’s it, now where did I put the tissues and the Vick?!!!

Beautiful....you have so much more colours in your garden than me. You should feel better in a jiffy.... :)))

Wow some beauties there and what colour what a wonderful home coming for you.

You are lovely - all of you, so lovely that I am about to be truly honest with you!!!

These little clusters of colour are very nice but our garden in general is in a bit of a mess!! The trellis which is a main feature, received a terrible battering from the winds and looks so neglected and rickety, the lawn is far too long and therefore looks untidy and the soil is so water logged it is impossible to dig.

You see, the camera can lie but being such a good girl, I have admitted the whole sad story to you!!!

I am off to get a Lemsip!

Aaaw hope you feel better soon, your garden looks lovely and colourful, my gardens a mess too but then its been to wet to do much till the past week or so, sure we're all in the same boat, you'll get it sorted when you feel a bit better and everything will look better then too :-)
I only show the good bits too ;-)

Your honesty makes me feel even better, Wildrose, as I've just walked round my garden, slimy patchy long grass, tangled mess in one corner , etc etc. We will all get it sorted when the weather improves :)

Oh, poor you Chris ! I don't get many colds, but when I do, its a humdinger ! Lovely photos , especially the last one !
I've got a yellow double ! They are gorgeous , aren't they !
Its a good job I left all traces of Celandine at the cottage as Rick used to love them and wouldn't let me pull them out ! Now my wallflowers....well, I forgot to transplant them. They were all together in a little trough and there was quite a lot ! They are in the garden now, but very small ! I don't think I will see much of them this year !
I was also late putting bulbs in last year, don't know why, so not seeing many spring flowers at the moment apart from snowdrops and crocuses !
I hope you feel better soon. xxx

Thanks ever so much for making the effort for us Chris! It's much appreciated. I hope that cold clears up soon. Best remedy is Night nurse - double dose then off too bed! It works for me.
Your garden is miles ahead than mine. I love the colour of that wallflower - good that it germinated for you.
Stay warm and get well soon x

Stop stealing my lines Scottish, I was just about to say how much I liked the colour of the wallflowers. We all only show the good bits Chris, so don't feel guilty. I had my first bit of gardening yesterday, so one tiny part of my garden looks ok .... might take some pics:-)))

Many thanks for all the get well wishes - they have really cheered me up and I do believe that my cold is a little bit better this evening but I shouldn't have said that.......famous last words!!!

Hope you are on the mend, at least looking at the wonderful photos, (never mind the horrid parts!!) must have cheered you up somewhat, all the gardens have sorry parts this year, cannot be helped, when we are basking in a heat wave we shall all have forgotten how wet it was (I hope!)

3 Mar, 2014

Oh yes Dotty, I would like to be basking in a heatwave before the year is out!!!

It has been a tough winter for so many.

Agreed....

I'm a week behind with reading blogs Chris, so I hope your cold has gone away now. The first photo reminded me that my garden Primroses came originally from a place near you ... one where folk sell produce from a table at the end of their drive! You have some lovely Spring flowers to cheer you up ... keep looking at those and forget the shabby parts of the garden! Works for me ... :o)
