This years new project and OH says its definitely the last!!

So here we have it, firstly we had to removed what was my pride and joy a large Jasmin against the corner fence, sadly it had got a bad case of cushion scale. I had been treating it over the last couple of years but unfortunately it just got worse so it had to go.
This was when we decided on doing one more project in the garden so instead of going away for our 56th wedding anniversary OH put his DIY skills to work and made me a Pegoda in the corner of the back garden patio.

!
Some years ago when we replaced the old kitchen door with a window the lintel was used as a sort of feature post and placed upright between the Jasmin and the rose, so we utilised it again to make extra seating, giving a rustic look.

So far I`ve planted a dwarf peach “Avalon Pride” next to the blue pot, clematis “Westerplatte” on the left back post and Jasmin humile “Revolutum” on the far right post, almost forgot the clematis behind the peach going up the trellis is winter beauty which was already there when we started.

These are a couple of pics taken when we came back on the 14th of this month after having a few days away a very belated anniversary break much deserved for OH`s hard work.

Clematis “Westerplatte” is now in flower.

Once the Clematis and Jasmin have climbed to the top and the Dublin Bay Rose is in full bloom I shall be a very happy bunny.

Sorry this is Clematis “Westerplatte” is now in flower don`t quite know what happened.

The harbour looks lovely well done to your OH he deserves a pat on the back love the Clematis gorgeous colour the whole area looks nice like the rustic bench too.

Well I think that looks lovely...I love a pergola. I've been plotting to have one here but so far to no avail! :) I think your first photo of the clematis is missing its 'g' on 'jpg' at the end of the link Phyl. You may have accidentally deleted it when editing the blog. That may be why it's not working. You'll be pleased with the evergreen jasmine, I love mine and in a more southerly situation it will thrive.

Thanks Karen you could well be right I shall take more care when I next do any editing.
When I was thinking about jasmine I always look at what you have then I know I can`t go wrong.

Its a very inviting little corner now, and a very good way to spend some of your holiday! I've never seen one fitted into a corner like that and its so effective!

Raining as I'm sitting here, :-). It looks really lovely and love that you used old lintel for a bench. Look forward to seeing more photos as it matures.

Stroller you have been saying thats the last project for a few years now, I'll look forwards to next years one, lol, great idea making use of the old lintel again, it fits in just right doesn't it and the pergola as you say will look smashing when your climbers take hold and start to spread out, even more so when in flower, nice idea in the corner like that, well done Hubby...

Thanks Lincs but OH has had to do most of the work on this one as my arthritis has stopped my little game when it comes to any heavy work and at 76yrs he feels enough is enough so its just planting, light pruning and weeding from now on, unless of course I can find a young muscle man.lol.

You have always done so well Stroller so both deserve to take it easier, its hard to let go though isn't it, my hip and gammy knee give me a lot of aggro these days, I'll be 70 on Saturday and wet days like today my joints remind me....
