At last its Mission accomplished !!!

As I said on a previous blog we had made the pond too close to the boundry fence so OH came up with the solution of making a small bridge for me to get access to any pruning, however, over the years it has got more and more difficult as you can see from pic 1:-

There was only one thing for it and that was to get rid of the Lonicera Nitida so it was lopped off and my dear OH did me the favour of digging out the roots.
Well fortified with a cup of coffee supplied by my good neighbour Michelle I got to work on making a pathway with old slabs up the side of the pond and rebuilding the head of the waterfall. All tested and stable and safe I shall be able to bound up there says she.lol.

The pond filter had been leaking and as it was part buried in the soil at the top of the waterfall it was making a muddy mess,so time to resite it under the rustic arch I think. A new outlet pipe was fitted before I dug a huge square hole in which to put it. This wasn`t made easy owing to the fact that a cheeky young robin kept hopping in to dine on the worms I was unearthing and as I am petrified of BIRDS coming near me I had to keep retreating into the house. Michelle my kind neighbour thought this was so funny and got my camera to take a few pics.

After intervals of escaping the robin ( I was in and out of the house like a fiddlers elbow) I managed to build a small wall with old broken slabs in front of the resited filter and pillars at the back on which to rest a cover lid/seat that OH had made. While the mortar was drying I put down three slabs to make steps. It makes it so much easier now to get at the filter for cleaning out.

The next stage was to slightly resize and reshape the bed to the right making a small rockery at the front of it.

The gravelled area is now slightly larger making for less weeding.lol.

So there we have it, hey presto all done. As this blog has turned out rather long I shall leave it until another day to show what has happened the other side.

Well done you, that looks much better and easier for you to manage. Makes you feel good too when you have done a major job like that and it is such an improvement. The robin incident made me laugh. Sorry.

What a lot of hard work, and what a difference you've made! Poor little robin, surely he didn't mean to frighten you off - he's only a baby!

Gosh Stroller you don`t do things by halves, thats a lot of hard work been done there, it looks grand and certainly looks a lot better, I liked it before but can see how hard it would be to care for when it came to cleaning the filter, I have the same problem here, I was daft enough to plant a ceanotus at the side of ours and the filter is under it.
I love it , well done you, had a chuckle at the tale of the robin, its the big hornets that scare me witless...

You've worked hard there. It's nice to make improvements. I hope you'll find it easier now.
I know how you feel about birds coming near you. I'm the same. As long as they stay up in the air, I'm all right lol

You don't do things by half do you Phyl lol. I'm exhausted just looking at all that work, but it's looking fantastic you clever thing. Will you let me know what you're taking ....I could do with some:-)

Great job.....I can't, no matter how hard I try, get an image of you bounding up those steps 2 at a time :)
What a difference that has made. Do you think the robin knew you were scared and was teasing you?...lol!

Steragram ~ that little robin might only be a baby but I only like from a distance.
Hi Lincs ~ glad I`m not the only one that does daft things, but then we make up for it with all the hard graft we do.
It seems the improvement bug has got to a lot of us Hywel, but by the look of things its no good me sending the Robin your way.lol.
Glad you like it BA hopefully it will be less work. I can only put the energy down to all the spinach I keep eating, Terry will keep growing rows of the stuff and theres only me and him that eat it.
Now then Scottish thats taking things a bit too far, I said bound up those steps ~ nothing about 2 at a time.!!

Didn't think you could improve your garden Stroller but it looks fab. Glad you explained where you got the energy from, I was feeling very lazy seeing all your hard work.
Im the only one that eats spinach in our house so I dont have it often.
Last week OH rang me asking what the "Big leaves" where in his salad I had packed for him, on telling him it was spinach I think they were distibuted around the M25, Lol.
Off to have a look at your next blog :-)
