Hi everyone, lovely and sunny now after a morning of down pours, awfull.
Not alot going on in my garden at the moment, its all falling to sleep and i just make sure its kept tidy, well my tidy not karens lol
firstly i went to the smoking clinic yesterday and began today on patches and mouth spray which if not done right gives you hickups lol, first spray i got it in my throat and that was it couldnt stop hick, hick, hick haha, but at least it tastes ok, minty so i can get use to it im sure.
my jar on the side which i put my cash in each day to keep me going but actually feel ok being its my first day, so wish me luck with that one guys.
second is the art, grundy galleries birthday here in blackpool, think about 100 years, not quite sure, anyway we the art society are having a space in that.
carols wanted more relaxed painting and fun ones to, so first half of exibition is sea coast or blackpool, anything to do with coast.
second half is winter or xmas.
anyway i have chose an easy sea scene as havent done anything with water really, winter one is taken from a photo of my neice when they made a giant snowman in bracknell last winter, which i will be giving her after the exibition.
also iv been doing a flower meadow which just need tweeking up with highlights etc but almost there.
then i did a quick small painting of a section of my neighbours garden, she had bourght a chair from car boot and it made a nice picture.
im still enjoying my art and learning all the time with guidence when i need it but really like to try things myself and if really stuck then i ask, i just think you learn more by trying things yourself and verbal guidence, thats me though, wont give in lol
so thought you would like to see what iv done, next is a more serious painting of padstow harbour which im looking forward to painting,a little more challenging

what will you all be doing over winter

The paintings are great Sandra - I love the vibrant colours of the first one.
Great to hear your trying to quit smoking, just think of all that money that will be going in the jar, not to mention the health benefits.
Don`t really know what I shall be doing over winter, no doubt some little project will spring to mind.

Good luck with the quitting of smoking, I have been stopped now for over 33 years, it is very hard at first but you will get there I did it the hard way. After two false starts I got there in the end. Keep up the good work. The art collection is growing nicely, keep enjoying that it is much better than smoking for your health. lol.

OHG these are just the best. The first pic and the flowers. Just gorjus!
Like the triangular shape painting.
Love these San.
Best of luck with the not smoking.
I bought the gum in the summer, didn't have my glasses so couldn't read the instructions...popped one in my mouth and chewed.........and then felt EXTREEMLEY ill in the middle of Cirencester. Tried one the other day....YUK!

great blog and superb pictures..i like the eye for the vibrancy of the colours and the simplisticness of the shapes and the flow of the pictures..i think the last one is lovely and would adorn any gallery wall with pride..excellent efforts and thanks for sharing your art

19 Oct, 2011

They are lovely Sandra.....Me! I shall be back in the card~making bedroom......lol.....

19 Oct, 2011

WOW!! You have got some lovely paintings there! :))))

19 Oct, 2011

Love your paintings Sandra you have really developed your own style now, quite a modernistic approach like the bright clear colours;0) I am busy making Christmas cards , early but they are time consuming;0))

19 Oct, 2011

San your paintings has come on in leaps and bounds, love your style and like the vibrant colours you use......be strong with the ciggies, you know you can do it, good luck no idea what I shall be doing this winter, each day is a bonus at my age lol !!

19 Oct, 2011

I love them too Sandra, especially the first and the last. So vibrant, I can see why you're so fond of acrylics. You've really made great strides in your artwork, I'm VERY impressed! :o))
I wish I had your aptitude for experimentation, I'm still trying to get to grips with acrylics and although it's slow, I'm sure I'll get there now that classes are 4 a month instead of 2.

19 Oct, 2011

Lovely art work, my fav. is the beach. Think I'll be painting again soon, as the days & nights start to cool I feel the need to be creative again.
There is an art website I'm on it's called Paintings I love, you might find it interesting. I'm listed under Wind

Best of luck with quitting smoking. A friend of mine quit smoking and was saving up the money she would have spent on fags and in a few months had about 800 euros and bought a fine quality carpet for her 3 story house, so I think that encouraging.

19 Oct, 2011

Lol San, had to enlarge pic. to really large before I could see the metal chair, its funny how 'one' sees different things in a picture isnt it? I still like the 'green pot'!!! x

19 Oct, 2011

You are a talented girl Sticki.....And good luck with the ciggies...It does get easier...Im off them over 4 years now...cant believe i actually did it!!...:>)

19 Oct, 2011

San, I love all your paintings, and the one on the wall that is framed looks wonderful! Have to say though, I have fallen in love with that Snowman...it makes me smile...and the flower meadow...same. Gorgeous!

I am busy knitting a sweater and in the middle of another seaglass mosaic. I think this winter I will be doing a lot more of that kind of thing and I really must get on with my painting too...but haven't had any inspiration lately.

Knowing me, I will continue to do a little gardening whenever I can, but obviously a lot less than during the good months.

Well done on stopping smoking...that is such a great achievement...fantastic! Big hug from me for that! :))

19 Oct, 2011

Karen, I am in the middle of knitting a baby blanket, started it January, baby born August and I am only half way through, Lol!

19 Oct, 2011

My garden never sleeps San, I can get waylaid just taking the waste to the bin but thats the way I am, I suffer withdrawal symptons in the winter, although been a lot better since having the greenhouses.
I haven`t the patience for sewing, can no longer knit due to arthritis in my hands, it takes me forever to write my xmas cards out and I have never been able to paint, I`m hopefully going to sort out the thousands of photo`s I`ve taken into some semblance of order, the bathroom needs decorating, as do the outbuildings but I`m making no promises, lol.
Good luck as regards the ciggies, I`ve tried everything except hypnosis and that includes the tablets from the Doc, trouble is my hubby is a smoker as well so the first thing I do if something upsets or worries me is to reach for his.
Your paintings are great, I do like the happy snowman and the one in the frame is really lovely, you`ll have to get your Caspar to pose for you, if he`s like mine he`ll be indoors most of the time now its gone cold, lol....

19 Oct, 2011

Im also very impressed with your progress Sandra, I just love your pictures, especially the framed one..stunning! Good luck with packing up smoking..I'm fighting a battle with my weight, so doctor wont nag me about the fags..one thing at a time he says! I did try hypnosis to stop smoking, and I felt so relaxed that I frightened the hypnotist to death when I refused to "come around" when he asked me to. I knew I was hypnotised cos I could keep my feet together with no effort (try doing that lying down for half an hour!) and I felt quite bloddy minded about moving lol! It worked for about 2 weeks but I put on half a stone, so that was that!
I really feel tempted to have a go at painting this winter..you have encouraged me. Thanks for showing them and I look forward to the next ones.

20 Oct, 2011

thankyou sue and i envy you keep going in the garden over winter, im a summer gardener only afraid to say, sorry you suffer with your arthur and it stops you doing things you enjoy, good luck with the decorating though :o))
thanx Tetra and sorry about the struggle with weight, the NHS now do a weight help sceme like the smoking i was told so maybe they could help you with that, worth a try, its hard to stop smoking and not eat chocolate etc but im trying to eat raw veg, carrots etc rather than bad things, good luck and try get back into painting it may help :o))

Great paintings San - especially love the first and the third - they look so professional! I think this winter I'm going to Tidy My Desk, and then hope to paint a Christmas card, trying to include a bit of calligraphy . . . so nothing ambitious, lol. (and still have to think of a subject . . . )

25 Oct, 2011

thankyou sheila, i envy you being able to do calligraphy. it makes the card i think, what about a nice fat robin lol or a lovely angel for your subject :o))

25 Oct, 2011

Mmmm, maybe . . . a robin in the snow, perhaps? Whatever, I'll enjoy doodling around waiting for inspiration!

25 Oct, 2011

Great work Sandra. Its good to have a talent and to be able to use it. Well done with the ciggies, hope you get over the cravings and manage to beat it. My weakness has always been food. I love cooking, which doesn't help. I have managed to loose 2stone over the last 4 months and now comes the battle to keep it off. I too am stubborn - which does help. I need a new pastime other than baking. Not good enough to take up painting though ...lol.

26 Oct, 2011

im sure you will sheila ;o))
thankyou poppy, still not had a ciggie, your like my sister-in-law, she loves cooking and food, also battles with her weight, she has lost some lately and wants to stick to healthier eating along with my brother, hope you manage to keep yours off, well done on all you have lost, thats great, some of the ladies on here do mosaics, why not try that, you cant do any patterns you like with mosaic, good luck :o))

26 Oct, 2011

Your painting has sure improved Sandra..i love the flower meadow..well done..:o)

1 Nov, 2011

2 Nov, 2011
