Hallo everyone, I have a small patch of pumpkins and squashes, they started to produce a lot of flowers.

United Kingdom

I have heard, that to have a proper pumpkin, I have to get rid off some of the flowers. I am worried if I pick them I will not have any pumpkins at all.

There are lots of different opinions on this one Michaela. Some people believe that after the first few blossoms you should remove the later ones, this will make for larger pumpkins. Others contend that the early flowers should be removed, for the same reasons. Most people, I believe, follow this idea. Folks with a long growing season, like me, tend to let all the flowers develop unless they are trying to win a giant pumpkin contest. Maybe a neighbor or grower in your own area might be able to tell give you more insight.
