Rhubarb grows best in fertile, well drained ground, which is open to the sun.

welcome to GoY. I have mine in the open ground and it gets sun from first thing to mid afternoon. every year i give it a mulch of well rotten manure and pull it all summer long. I freeze what we cant eat and it keeps us going through the winter months. In fact crumble is cooking as i type this. first of the season :o)
