I have a plant growing in my garden that looks like a triffid!!! What is it.?

Agreed its Verbascum, it is a Biennial and once its seeds are ready you can sew them if you like and they will form a large clump of growth the first year and in the second you get the long flower spikes.

These are a lovely native plant. the foliage is very felty almost white with the hairs on the surface. I always try to grow some as the insects love them.

Lucky old you. I would love this Verbascum. We visited Hidcote Manor Garden last week and my husband Barry photographed me between two plants.

Looks like Verbascum. If you are of a superstitious nature then you will be pleased to have it because in the past it was meant to ward off witches and their curses and any other evil spirits too.
