Hawthorn not blossomed

my hawthorn (pauls scarlet) has blossomed at the end of may for the past 15 years but has not blossomed or had any leaves this year, the bark of the tree has a copper tinge to it - what has happened?

I suspect your hawthorn is dead, scrape away some of the bark with your thumb nail or a knife blade, if it is green underneath all is well otherwise it is probably a goner.
