I bought the plants from a well known DIY store. They were outside there and also for about 3 days at home before planting. Yes 'Bamboo' I am indeed the same person. It's the first time I have used the site and still finding my way around it! Many thanks for your comments. Hard2grow.

Are you HardtoGrow, Guest? And does this question refer toyour earlier one about Dianthus? If you are, it would be better if you just added your response under your original question rather than signing on as a Guest. I note you're also in Cambridgeshire, so I'll assume you're the same person - the other cause of those white patches could be slug/snails.
