Its second summer with me. I have no idea when they bloom here in the bay area.

I think they bloom in summer and fall.

Thanks. I'm not so sure they are drought tolerant!..they might like more water- this one turned red stems by being on the dry side.

They're super drought tolerant. In fact, I've killed two from over watering them. They need perfect drainage and not a lot of water. Most of the large ones at the San Diego Zoo are dry as a bone...and they bloom perfectly! I've posted pics in the past on GoY.
