David - the stream came up...and up... and swished over the lower part of our grass. The lanes were flooded and I didn't dare go through the ford on my way to Church yesterday, I drove 10 miles extra to go safely...It's going back down now. Yes, I do like the bright blue, Jac!

Oh dear! Sorry to read that you had so much trouble, Spritz! You know, what with all these storms, warnings, etc, I have not had a breath of wind in nearly 2 weeks now. Hence, have been outdoors sowing and potting up even at midnight?!! Yet, on the coast, just 10 miles away, entire village streets were under sea water! What a strange and diverse island we live on! Hope your area recovers quickly ( and all others affected, too).

Isn't there a festival around the time of the cherry blossoms? Would love to see that.

Not sure which type. Moved from bed and put into two pots and put in front garden. Lets see if they grow as well.
Spring flowering bulbs that multiply quite quickly. Lift and split up every few years. Nice in a vase.

Most grape hyacinths are so reliable and undemanding that they are taken for granted. They need no special care and, once planted, will flower and spread freely, so that division may be necessary every few years. This is a vigorous species with attractive bright blue flower spikes in spring.
Looks good with:
Chionodoxa luciliae Gigantea Group
Narcissus 'Bravoure'

Mine won't be in bloom for 3 - 4 weeks yet, Spritz. Great to see yours, but sorry to read about your midstream crisis(?)
