I tried to look up why the name Clown fig.
All I could find was a joke :
Do Clown Figs taste funny? :o)
Do we know why it is called Clown Fig, please?

It's probably a clown fig because of the many colours in the leaves, like a clown fish or clown suit clowns wear, lol.
I can't see any problem with landscaping and including this fine tree.

It is called clown fig because of the variegation of the leaves and the red figs which resemble a clown's nose. I do see it used in the landscape here occasionally, it is overwhelming in some landscapes. It ha to be strategically placed though. I really like variegated plants and trees they can be showy in an all green landscape if well-placed.
