Mine is about 2 m tall and is 3-4 years old. As trees go I think you could descibe them as small. I'm not sure of it's potential height.

This is an Acer Ginnala or Amur Maple. Probably shouldn't be in the Japanese Maple section.

It's a small tree. I think max about 10ft, but I'd need to look it up.

Members' notes...
Something really enjoys eating the leaves of this tree! Could be leaf cutter bees.
Planted seeds late 2007 in pots. Came up nicely. By August 3 good sizs, 1 a bit smaller and 2 weedy ones. Will plant out the decent ones, maybe by fence near Aucubas, and near wall (Acer bed) after moving Kniphofias. Other possibilities are side garden and willow bed.
The Amur Maple has been declared an invasive species in some parts of N.A. and I can see why...it produces masses of inconspicuous chartreuse blossom that smells sweetly like lilacs.. and from those blossoms come legions of keys!! I pull up seedlings from my garden beds but the keys aren't shed as readily as the regular Maple keys are...they seem to stay on the tree till late into the fall... I've seen squirrels eating them. it will remain shrubby if regularly shorn or pruned but I prune out all suckers so my Amur is a medium size tree about 15 ft tall and about as wide... hardy in this cold climate it is a favourite.
