Thanks ! They do better in the ground than in a pot in the hot summer months, because they love water..! But the most important thing to remember is they are very heavy feeders. Buy some water soluble miracle gro that contains a mix of 15-30-15. It's called bloom booster,(if you use 10-10-10 or 15-15-15 they will do more growing and less blooming unless you happen to have some excellent soil).. I feed them a 3 gal bucket of water mixed at half recommended strength for outdoor plants (1 1/2 spoons) every other day. I prune all the lower limbs off my brugs to make it look more like a tree instead of letting it take its normal shrub shape, and I have still had as many as 103 blooms open on them at one time. Good luck ! The brugs in this photo is still pretty young, early in the season, by autumn the trunk on this one was almost the size of my wrist, and 10 feet tall.

Thanks ! Sandra, I leave them in the ground and mulch around them heavily. If we have a mild winter, they come back from the root. If it's a special one, I'll take cuttings in the fall and save them overwinter in a glass of water on my windowsill. This one is fairly common around here, if it doesn't come back, I can buy another one that's about 3 feet tall, at a local nursery for about 12 dollars.

Now there is something to be really envious of - not only full of blooms but also a great frame/shape to support those 'bells' whose into campanology?? Pity we can't have out of doors in Cambridgeshire

I can't get over how many blooms ! I've never been able to get that many blooms at once. Do you think it has a lot to do with planting it in the ground each spring? I keep mine potted. I may give this a try though if it'll mean more blooms. And how do you fertalize?
