Thanks, Amy, I love the name. Looked it up in Google as well, I can feel myself becoming more fond of it :)

Thanks Amy, I've been trying to find out what it is. Drives me mad though Gee, seeds down all over the place, is it a weed? Mine arrived with some plants that were given me by my mum's neighbour.

Hi Dawn, I have added below the info I found on Google:

Orange hawkweed is also known as fox-and-cubs because of the way the flowers grow in a cluster at the top of the long, straight stem. The flowers are like small dandelion heads but are a bright, fiery orange-red in colour. The stem is covered in small black hairs and has neat, hairy leaves arranged in a rosette at the base. Fox-and-cubs is a naturalised garden escape, found on dry lawns and banks. It will make a very positive statement in a garden in some dry grassy corner.

I'm surprised its doing so well in my garden as it is often anything but dry. My tortoises do enjoy eating the first leaves that comes through so I am happy to let it wander around the garden :)

Thanks for this info Gee. I've been wondering for a couple of years now what it could be. I dont mind it as I've restricted it to the wild bank I have. Once those flowers turn to fluff (like dandelions) they blow in the wind and spread like mad. I find it springs up all over the place. So pleased your tortoises like it - I have plenty if you run out or maybe I should get a tortoise :-). My garden is quite wet too but it seems to thrive. Im so pleased I now know what it is, thanks.
