This is what we rather grandly call our "Long Border" - freshly mulched and beginning to re-grow. the path to the left is intended for access only - hopefully over the years the border and the hedge will grow to obscure this.

In the bottom left is a relatively new Buddleja 'Silver Anniversary' also known as 'Morning Mist' - has white, rather fluffy flowers - we bought it from a local nursery - it's hardiness is questionable, apparently, although this is its second winter with us - so far it has been unremarkable, but we are not giving up hope.
The other striking plant with plenty of greenery is Angelica archangelica, which we bought as a tiny plant from Strathkinnes Herbs in 2006. Last year was the first of it getting into the ground, and we are looking forward to it doing its stuff this year - although last year it was a magnificent foliage plant anyway. Our understanding is that if it flowers it will die, but it should self seed a plenty - which is our kind of plant.

I love the fact you use the 'grand' term for your border! It may not be as long as the Great Dixter one but it will be just as grand I'm sure.
Our longest long border can only ever be 12' but I have grandiose plans for it ;o )
