My new field guide to the Birds of North America

Yah, I'm excited! I bought this today for $10 from the bargain table at the bookstore. Now maybe I can name some of these little birds that I've been posting :) After I left the bookstore with my new purchase(s) I thought to myself, "The more I learn, the more I see." :) Like when you learn a new word and then it seems to pop up in conversations all the time.

This is a good book Tastey. If its the one I'm thinking of it used to come with a recording of bird calls. Does this one have a recording? There is a website that is pretty neat if you are looking for different bird calls. The address is......

http://www.whatbird.com/

Just type in the bird's name in the search box at the top and a new window opens up about the bird with a recording of the song.

Good book. And I like the comments you've put underneath the photo about learning new words, and then finding you seem to hear and use those words more often. LOL

Gilli- This book didn't come with the bird calls. I think that I saw the sight that you mentioned though. Thanks for the address :)

See Sandra, you read your birding book and therefore you're more aware of your surroundings and now you see more :) Amazing what a little reading can do :)

What about now Irish, is your bird guide on you now?!? lol JK ;~)

Yes, TT lol :) Perhaps this is how the word 'enlightened' came about, or the phrase 'now I see the light', or perhaps the picture of a lightbulb above one's head when they get a 'bright' idea in cartoons or movies.
In the very informative words of Schoolhouse Rock 'knowlegde is power!' Does anyone on the other side of the pond and/or elsewhere (besides people from the US) know of this series of 3 minute educational cartoons? I grew up watching these. They were slipped in between commercials and cartoons like Bugs Bunny reruns and Scooby-Doo on Saturday mornings.
Here's a link to them:

Never heard of those Tastey.

For those of us who grow up with them, it's a very notalgic feeling we get when we hear or see them. For those who know nothing about them, they probably seem outdated and corny.

definately corny...but we'd catch our selves singing them under our breath..."conjunction junction what's your function"

..."hookin' up words and phrases and clauses." Yes, Kmccue07, you know what I'm talking about :)
