Paulownia tree in jungle - 26 October

Paulownia tree in jungle - 26 October (Paulownia tomentosa (Foxglove tree))

On the left hand side of the photo is a tree with very large leaves - a Paulownia. We pollard it every spring to stop it flowering and encourage it to put its energy into developing large leaves - some are more than 18 inches across.

As the weather cools these leaves drop with a large "plop" sound. As we worked in the jungle tonight (using our head torches to help us find frost sensitive plants) we were rained on by these enormous leaves!

Even the cat is purrrrrfectly in place.
Beautiful photo.

An odd condition for you to explain to your doctor:
Paulownia "plop" bruising. :o)

Our neighbours have two cats and they regard our garden as their territory. They keep their distance but are getting a little more brave - being unphased by our goings on. The only thing that did really unnerve them was coming, unexpectedly, across the life-sized tiger in the jungle - it took them several days to pluck up courage to roam in our garden again!

But now you have Hallowe'en perils for the pussycats ~

White-wrapped scary shrubs and
large-leafed phantom Paulownia ploppers !!!
