I have lots of tropical guavas myself. My tree produces so much fruit.

I've been trying to think if I've ever had a guava...and I don't think I have. are they like persimmons? sure do envy you your climate Stan. at first I thought I was looking at walnuts... we actually had walnuts this year... last year we lost them to a late spring frost. how are the ocean temps this fall... will we have an el nino this year, maybe?

So far Lori its been on the dry side and mild temps.
The guavas are unique..maybe not for everybody but I do see this type sold at supermarkets around the bay area.
Funny but in the empty lot next to my home is a wild walnut tree-maybe a native species. Crows pick the nuts and drop them in the street hoping cars will smash them open. Their method works.

well, isn't that great? lol.. love crows. I have a little red squirrel I call Dude. He hoards the walnuts in the shed... keeps him all winter. Makes a horrible mess with the rinds and a horrible noise opening the shells.. (like nails on a blackboard!)
There is a great fruit market in Ottawa that has exotic fruits... maybe worth a look. are they citrus or a drupe?

If you lived close by I would give you bags of tropical guavas. I have so many ripening right now on my 18 ft tall tree. I don’t eat them so I give them all away.

I hadn't looked at my own tree for awhile but the wife did and came in with a colander of the larger Guavas. Surprised me.

It was a very good year for guavas. Lots still on the big trees around here. Guavas love lots of rain or water!

I also have the pink Guava by the way. My wife picks them too early but that's how she likes them...crunchy and then dipped in vinegar. Most of the Manila Mangoes went that route-lol.

Exactly. They prefer them that way over "ripened to sweet". Part of the Filipino culture. They took the Manila's when still green and used a potato peeler on them and dunked in vinegar.
