Goodies!

Goodies!

Mum and I spent a lovely morning at the local nursery choosing plants for containers (Mum didn't get as carried away as I did!) After cramming the boot of my car - fairly large, fortunately - and taking in coffee on the way home, I delivered her home and then unloaded my haul. OH merely smiled... Weather permitting, I shall have fun tomorrow!

I like your OH! Mine accused me of having a 'problem' last week. He thinks I'm out of control and addicted. We had what is known as a frank exchange of opinions! ;) I won. ;)

I shall, Klahanie!

Why does that not surprise me, Karen ? ?

I shan't be surprised if I do, Wildrose!

Thank you, Rose. I certainly enjoyed myself today, and so did Mum. I am looking forward to doing a couple of baskets from scratch as well as refreshing some pots that already have overwintered plants in them. These are usually unexpected surprises and very welcome! The new pots are lovely dark blue glazed ones that are apparently frost-proof. I am going to put pelargoniums in them.
I'm glad you like the table. Enjoy your garden and allotment!

Thanks Mel, I will ! I left a trailing begonia in a chimney pot and forgot it was there and its started to grow again !
My corm begonias have just popped up too and the pots were left out too ! Isn't nature great !

It certainly is, Rose. I often find that some things left in a sheltered place overwinter better than those in the cold greenhouse. I only managed to keep a couple of fuchsias this year. I usually do pretty well with them, and I'm not quite sure what happened. But the pelargoniums, inside and out, did really well.

I'm way behind with reading all the news but I'm even more behind in planting up my pots. I got some surfinias at Gardening Scotland and bought some new coir linings for my hanging baskets. They will need to be trimmed as I bought the 14" ones by mistake. OH being his usual helpful self removed all the labels to 'help' me. I cannot return them so will need to cut them down unless I can find new baskets for a reasonable price. Some of the fuchsias bought cheaply in M' supermarket last year have survived over the winter outside but I thinkI will replant them in fresh compost. You have a lovely selection there to give you a nice show over the coming months. I like those begonia sempervivum because they are no trouble to keep alive even when I neglect to water them.

I have now got these all safely planted, as well as the top-ups I got the following week. I love my containers! I think the begonias are great plants. I didn't get any in the first batch, but bought some beautiful bronze-leaved pink ones on Monday. They always give such a beautiful show, flowering their hearts out and - as you say - they are remarkably tolerant.
