Hiiii Kathy, this variety is nice and compact, about 18 inches high and keeps in a ball shape. I never know if they are asters or michaelmas daisies. I'll have to send you a root.

Thanks Lynda.
Hi Mot, bless your father in law. Mine came from my Mum's garden funnily enough. It's a nice easy one, isnt it. So do you all yours aster or michaelmas?

Very nice and full. I wonder why mine look so scraggly and sparse. Do you trim it down in July or just let it grow?

It looks so healthy Dawn no mildew in sight!!!, these are really growing on me for late colour, like you and Moti I have one given to me by my dad years ago a dark purple very double flowers looks lovely now, although it can suffer from mildew some years, bought a gorgeous one a couple of years ago from Malvern 'Little Carlow' which is my absolute favourite doesn't suffer mildew at all, just bought 3 more just this week from a local nursery which are only tiny yet and lower growing but still have a few flowers, at 1.84 each had to have them didn't I :-)

Hi Bathgate, Dotty. I would guess its due to the variety. I've had tall ones in the past that looked awful. I dont do anything to these, in fact they get a bit neglected. I cut them down in the spring to ground level. The clumps of mine are about 2 feet round and 2 feet high and tight.

Mine have had a bit of mildew in the past but OK this year so far.

Hi Kathy, invaluable, arent they in the autumn. I remember Little Carlow, good buy on the others, yes, you just had to have them.

Picked up a Sedum in Aldi yesterday, I have loads but not sure of the variety and this was Auutumn Joy, just what I wanted due to the large flower heads. :-) Good size and only £1.29.

I think that's what my asters need more than anything - neglect. From now on..to hell with them. Now, maybe I'll get a flower!
