Looks lovely with the grass removed. I did a lot of this sort of thing making new beds and I'm still trying to get rid of all the grass and soil I dug out! Trying to dry it out round the side of the house so I can put it in the composting bag for the garbageman. They won't take it if it's too heavily filled with stuff like this.

Yes, I have several bins filled with sod awaiting distribution into my yard waste, in fact got a bit carried away and the bins I set out were too heavy and they refused them. Got to redistribute before the next pick up.

I had the same problem so the last bed I dug I thoroughly beat up the grass with the trowel to remove as much soil as possible (I'm sure I keep the neighbours entertained!) My big pile round the side of the house has finally gone too, just kept raking it backwards and forwards and jumping on the large clods until the dead grass separated enough to bag.
