Thanks Michaella.
Hi Yorkshire, I know I'm being very selfish enjoying rain on a bank holiday but I'm loving it. Done a bit in the greenhouse - watered the tomatoes and some potting on and that's it, a relaxing day for Dawn :-)

your not being selfish at all Dawn, we all needed rain for the poor gardens,

Lovely fresh photo, Dawn. Glad you enjoyed your day. The promised rain has not arrived here yet although it is getting rather gray :)

Holly/Gee. Stopped here now (6pm), hopefully coming to you.

What a lovely garden! Such depth, variety and texture! Love the tree at the front; it looks small compared with the ones in the background, but I'm sure it isn't. Did you plant it? Love the Monkey Puzzle too. I always have a little giggle when people plant it 3 feet away from their house here.

wow! What a view from your bedroom window.....I am sooooo envious now! Magnificent. :)) In this pic, where is the boundary of your garden DA?

4 Jun, 2011

Oh Karen, you must have super views of the coast, lucky you. The big ash tree, the tallest one in the photo sits right in the corner of our boundary - the pond and the majority of the trees are to the left.

Hi Poodle, the acer in the foreground isnt that big and the monkey puzzle is still young but far away enough from the house :). Except for the huge ash, yes we have set all the trees.

WOW! That is some size of a garden DA. You have planted a mini forest there and it looks absolutely wonderful. I have no views of the sea here I'm afraid, only other houses. We live a mile from the sea, half way up a hill...we get a view of the sea from just outside the estate, but it's only a glimpse between roads. The good views are further up the hill. There are some lovely houses just over a field behind our estate that all have lovely views of the sea, but they are far too pricey for us....unless my numbers come up tonight...there's a new one up there for sale, it's mine if I win!! :))

Lovely Dawn,
Send that rain down to me right away.

thats a lovely garden you have there

Thanks Jackie.
Hi there Bob, I'll have a word with the rain and send it to you, your strawberries certainly havent suffered through lack of rain!
Karen: As ever, thank you. How good would it be to move higher and have a sea view, you never know, one day.

Well Dawn your'e amazing, we had a good shower about tea-time and on checking my rain gauge we have now had 1 whole inch since the beginning of April. Still have lots of strawberries to come, we will still be eating them this week and the late variety are only just flowering.

Well done for planting all those trees! I think a garden that size would completely overwhelm me, but you've created a real beauty spot, it looks so peaceful.
There is a little house on the seafront in Stonehaven for sale, Karen, it's not so far from Carnoustie. You wouldn't like the garden, though. It's about 8 m2. But someone did plant a monkey puzzle tree in the front garden there!!!

beautiful..................................

8 Jun, 2011

Thank you, not much rain since then :(

8 Jun, 2011

It does look like the sort of garden that comes with a stately home :0))

Oh Annella, bless you. The only thing with a garden on this scale is accepting that it will never look perfect, you can't win, can you. What about your amazing garden, now that is perfect :-)

It's Acer platanoides Drummondii. We're not getting much Summer at the moment sadly. Sounds so nice where you are.
