Frost Warning - April 30, 2008
It happens almost every year. We just had about ten days of temps in the 80's which is very warm for this time of the year and tonight we have a widespread frost warning. All the plants in the shade house have been brought back in and I covered my herb garden with sheets because I have a lot of new tender herbs planted. We really shouldn't bring anything out or plant new plants until May 15th but a lot of times we do as we are just plain too anxious.

Everything is OK out there this morning. At 5 am this morning it was 24 degrees and there was a light frost on the top of the cars and the garage roof. Glad I covered the tender stuff and brought the tropicals back in.

I do hope that this is the last swipe of Jack Frost for this season...somehow I'm not completely confident.

Well upon close examination my Kiwi, Chocolate and Wisteria vines got zapped a bit but they will recover.

It is always so tempting to plant especially after so much nice weather; even now after a frost I am still wrestling with myself - will it or won't it stay warm now...

There is always a chance of frost for us at least until May 15th. The weather changes so quickly. My vines look terrible from the frost at the begining of the week. I hope that they will bounce back.

We lucked out here Mike, it only got down to 37. I had covered everything to be safe, for 2 nights.
Your wisteria will be ok but the if it had buds, they were probably destroyed. Last year mine was loaded with buds and every one got burnt. Right now it only has 6 blooms on it, so it's still suffering a bit from last year's freeze.
What else?

only too familiar... we were supposed to be minus 2 deg. last night but there was no frost on roofs or anywhere that I could see...still it's better to be safe than sorry.
