Sabal palmetto? at Morley Field, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

Sabal palmetto? at Morley Field, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

I think this is Sabal palmetto - Saw Palmetto native the Southeastern part of the U.S. It is a very hardy palm tolerating temps down to around 12 degrees F. / -11 degrees C. However, specimens have been recorded to survive temps to 7 degrees F. / -14 degrees C. for short periods. Photo taken on Feb. 23, 2010.

Mushybanna:

It may...however, it would have to be planted in the hottest spot you have...they are very hardy but need a tremendous amount of heat to grow well in summer.

I have tablets that come from this tree - supposed to help prostrate and urinary health. Looks a lovely tree too
