Were they lived in permanently or just for overnight stops?

Whole summers more often than not. People passing through, or trying to settle. Wild old place.

Fascinating aren't they Arlene? I went my whole life there not realizing that Dugout Dick was so named for digging out these little places.

So cool would be nice in the summers for keeping cool...
