The pansy colours are just terrific aren't they? I always have a pot of pansies, Morgana, but I do prefer violas.

I know you do I recall you saying also Pansypotter loves violas too lol 2 of a kind I love the way they sit errect like little dancers when the wind blows them.

That's another reason I have them - we can get very strong wind out here.

Nice to know some one else sits watching them in the winds

Bernieh:

Beautiful flowers! Pansies are another winter growing plant here also.

Would you believe it - this morning I got up, had a look out over the courtyard and ... every single pansy is missing. Those damn wallabies! A couple of them have developed a taste for flowers - pansies, geraniums, osteospermums, hibiscus ... it's a new development so I'm going to have to come up with a deterrent soon or there'll be no flowers left!

Bernieh:

That's terrible!

In many areas California there's huge problems with deer , rabbits and gophers...they will eat pansies and many flowering plants during the night...the next morning no flowering plants left.

It's heartbreaking. In the mornings I'm starting to dread walking out into the courtyard and going to check on the new garden beds - in case there's something else gone.

Bernieh:

That sounds horrible! Do the Wallabies come out at night?

1 Sep, 2009

The wallabies come out early in the morning and all during the night - a few hardy souls brave the middle of the day, but not many.

Bernieh:

Even though they're cute...they seem like they do a lot of damage.

It reminds me a lot of cotton-tail rabbits here...they're so cute...but do so much damage to plants.

We've lived out here for quite a few years now and so far they've been great. I think the problem is more that I've starting taking an interest in the garden again and have unknowingly been planting some tasty treats for them - the plants that have been there all along were simply not that tasty!
