Shows creeping closer

Shows creeping closer

I’ve just returned after a few days away with my job (care/support work).
I’ve just been trying to catch up a bit. I think i will have to be sensible now and stop trying to view all the picture uploaded, which is a shame as i don’t really want to miss any – but there are just too many now (i will just have to look through some) and keep up with the blogs, if i can.
I see there is a ghost (Selenochlamys ysbryda) in Wales, which is not far away as Shropshire is next to Wales.
Tatton Park show is coming soon which i have a ticket to go and see.
I have now got to get into the shows, as the first one that i am entering this year (hopefully) is now 26th July. This one i haven’t entered before, at Bishops Castle. I need to start getting entry forms in for some of the shows.

Hi Mark. Nice to have you back on the site. I don't think the slug will get to Shropshire. They found it in Cardiff and you're quite a way further north than that. I am about 60 miles west of it so I'm hoping it won't spread to here.
I used to be a social worker so I know how demanding your work can be. Good luck with your show entries. Put some photos for us to see : D

Blodyn i've not seen any information about this slug, yet, other than what i read at GOY. I hope to get my entry forms in for the shows in the next day or two, and plan to get some pictures.
Hope i don't break a leg, lol.
I certainly plan to enjoy Tatton Park, i've not visited that show before. After that i shall be working on the shows i'm entering myself.
Always enjoy reading comments from everyone at GOY, (very supportive and encouraging).
No other site with such friendly members, (i have looked over a few, but don't often bother now although i am a member of a few).

Did I make a faux pas on that one? It is traditional not to wish someone in a show good luck, it is supposed to be bad luck. So "break a leg" has become the thing to say for good luck! Is that not the case in the UK. I thought it was universal. Anyway you knew what I meant right?

I must admit that i haven't heard the expression "Faux Pas" before. But i knew what you meant by "Break a leg". yes, i have heard this saying used before. I've probably used it myself in the past. "Break a leg" is one of those sayings that is said in a situation without really thinking about the actual words, it's a strange saying, as are many, i wonder who thought of it first? There are all sorts of sayings that are used without thinking about the actual words - if we stop and think of the actual words we'd think what a strange saying: "more or less" "half hearted" "give an inch, take a mile" "Raining cats and dogs" The list could go on and on. I know i use these sorts of saying all the time without thinking of the actual words, but sometimes it's quite fun to stop and look at the actual words - seeing the words written down made me look at the actual word. Hope you didn't mind me trying to make a joke of the wording, i appreciate the real thought behind the saying, if you know what i mean (now i'm waffling on, another strange saying). lol.

Another daft saying is " You can't have your cake and eat it " Well there's no point in having a cake if you can't eat it. It would go stale. lol. Sorry for that.: (

Good luck. Having seen how good dispays are i can understan how much hard work you have to put in. What ever you get from the judges take it as a big pat on the back.

Gosh this really could get confusing, It's such a habit to use all these sayings that it takes some actual thought NOT to use them. Yet again I used something that I thought was universal (faux pas) I guess if I was 16 I'd have said "My Bad". lol Oh well, we are all products of our environments. Oh no again, stop it, stop it...lol

It's quite fun to step back and look at the wording of these sayings, don't you think?
I shall keep using them because i always have, and i realise i've said them when it's too late - but i do have a chuckle to myself sometimes at the wording, and wonder who on earth thought of them first. lol.
