Dear gardening friends,

Its been a while since I was last on here so I hope you forgive me for popping up out of nowhere. I lost my mum last October and as you all know it is a loss that is so hard to come to terms with. I want a beautiful plant which is everlasting to plant in her name, her name was Patricia, I need it to be ideally suitable for a pot, I dont mind how big the pot has to be as I want to be able to take it with me if I ever move from here, I am looking for the most gorgeous sweetest thing and I do hope that you can help me. xxx

Marion, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What a lovely tribute you are planning. I hope you can find a plant that is a fitting reminder to your mum.
There is a hardy geranium called Patricia but I know that this is not what you have in mind. Im sure others will provide you with a few more to choose from.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's a difficult thing to cope with. I hope you're all right.
After my mother died, the son of an old neighbour gave me a lovely rose in memory of her, because she's been kind to his parents when they were old.
I know it isn't the sort of thing you're hoping for, but all I'm saying is that it's lovely to have a nice plant in memory of someone close.
I can't think of any suggestions, but I hope someone will be able to give you some advice :o)

I'm so sorry to hear that Marion. I don't know of any plants named Patricia, but it's a wonderful idea to remember her by and I hope someone comes up with a suitable suggestion very soon...

Sorry to hear about you losing your mum - but have just read another of your blogs. 'Cycle of Life' why not go with a tree a small one for a large tub or a fruit tree or just a large flowering shrub. When a very dear Uncle died we planted a Kilmarnock Weeping Willow. It is about to produce some catkins for me. I will never forget him. He was like a dad to us all. Hope you find a suitable plant or shrub or tree, it is a lovely way of reminding us of all the things we did together. Every day you will see it in the garden and you will recall happy memories. It certainly helps the grieving process. Good luck in your search. :O)

Marion I am so very sorry to hear you have lost your Mum, I had wondered where you were and know it takes time as regards carrying on with our lives, I planted a tree in my garden for mum even though I already had many plants that had come as cuttings from her garden over the years.
I had a look for you, I found two roses
Patricia Kent.
Patricia..
Patricia Barmold an Azalea..
Alison Patricia is a Fuschia..
I also found the geranium and an Aster Patricia Bollard, but think they are not want you want, if I find anymore I'll let you know, keep your spirits up Marion xx

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions and support, I love them all. I think I may go for the rose Pat Austen which is an orange coppery colour and mingle with this the geranium and perhaps the aster, I think that would look rather pretty. I did find a Fuchsia called Pats dream which is rather pretty too, so I may have to have more than one tub! xxx
