Catching up.

Hi everyone,
Not had chance to be involved in the site for a while, been really busy with work and gardening.
I have had a good couple of days in the garden catching up on all sorts of jobs. I have dug up some shrubs which were past their best and cleared a site for my husband to grow more vegies, he has got the bug having had success for the past two years growing in pots.
Today I have been taking cuttings of penstomen and verbena and I also took cuttings of lavender yesterday.
Dont know if I am allowed to advertise, but, I received Geoff Hamilton’s DVD on Thursday, we have spent the past two evenings watching and enjoying his relaxed approach to gardening and even though they were filmed some years ago are very relevent design wise today. Tonight we are going to watch the third and final disc which is the paradise gardens. I shall then pass it on to my friend who I know will want to change her garden straight away, she can never decide what type of garden she wants and is always changing it.

Glad you're back Holly! It's reassuring to hear that actual gardening takes precedence :o)

Which verbenas have you got? Which ones can you take cuttings from? I'd like to have a go. They are such lovely plants.

The verbenas i have taken cuttings from are, bonariensis and a new one I purchased this year called Seabrooks Lavender bred by Peter Seabrook he advises it is hardy to -15 celsius and easy to take cuttings so i'm giving it a go. Also another hardy one which i don't know the name deep purple and spreading. I know you can also take cuttings of bedding verbena as i have done in the past to save for hanging baskets the following year.

I'll try my beautiful 'Aztec Pearl' which has done so well in a large pot - and I'll look at my bonariensis to see if there are any suitable shoots! I shall try the other varieties too, I guess my greenhouse is going to be full of cuttings!
