This is a beauty!!...I have one in my conservatory...a lovely velvety red....no flowers this year though.....

Do you think its because its really a climber? or can yours wander?

Drc726:

Yes, it doesn't tolerate freezing temps without damage. It's widely grown as a little shrub or viny-shrub here. Most of urban San Diego is in USDA Zones: 11 to 10B.

Amblealice:

Most Mandevilla species/varieties bloom all year here. This is the reason why they're so popular.

Denise.....yes I grow it as a climber....Its against a trellis on a brick wall.....and yes it wanders!!!.....many a time I've had to pull it out of the roof blinds!!

We grow this and it has flowered non stop for over three years now, we take it outside in the summer and then cut it down and keep it inside the garden room, took a pic last week will post it.

I keep waiting for it to drop dead with all the effort......

Dottydaisy2:

It just loves to bloom! I have one in the back yard. It's blooming profusely with our current 5 day heat wave. It's also been loving the rare 100F/ 38C. temps we've had here the last 2 days.

Lucky you.......

Dottydaisy2:

Yes, I'm lucky to have the plant bloom here all year. But not to experience these horribly hot temps though.
