Fritillaria reuteri - 2019 (Fritillaria reuteri)

Unlike most members of the family, this fritillary wants permanently moist soil. I am growing it in a tall pot stood on the shelf round the edge of my pond

Like it. Round the edge of the pond, is that in the pond edge or the edge outside?

Gorgeous colours and shape.

There's a shelf inside the pond Sue - for plants of course!

Well, I wouldn't have thought Fritillaria would like it so wet! I saw that you keep your Sarracenia on the pond shelf and some Primulas.

Sue - I saw the fritillary growing in the wild on my trip to Iran - it was growing in the middle of a stream!
The sarracenia I grow is hardy to -20C and grows in peat bogs in the wild
The primulas are candelabras and other moisture lovers. The baskets are taken out and stood on the side wall during winter as they do not like being waterlogged in cold weather
