A genus of about 150 different species that are popular for their good looks and great smell, the rose can be divided into Old Garden and Modern roses.
The flowers of this familiar plant come in a variety of shapes from flat – like a dog-rose – to rounded, rosette and pompon. The colour options are endless with breeders creating more each year.
Rose essence is used widely in soaps and perfumes and is often still extracted by steam distillation of rose petals.

Well,, perhaps it is not the pascali. Here is what the pascali says:
double, creamy white blooms on strong stems. Free flowering, vigorous bush. It is exquisit, for sure. A wonderful rose!

It's a beautiful rose and a great photo Chrispook. I think it is a Hybrid Tea rose called Pascali, but I am not completely sure. Why not type that in in google images and you will see a lot of them, possibly with their leaves and look closely at the leaves edges and nerves and the special edges of the petals. If it is not the Pascali, just type in white rose and you'll get a whole range of them. I always identify my plants etc. by google images if I don't know them. Good luck!

Very nice picture. Which rose is this one? Hot weather is only good for roses, I had many doing well when it was 38 - 40 degrees. But they do need water. Sun and water are recepies for good roses. I see your outcry for watering when you are away so often. Perhaps look at Australian flowers and shrubs, which are very drought resistant. All natives here are, you know, as summers are very dry here in the southern part. Bottlebrushes ( Calistemons ) and Grevillea's are wonderful and you can leave them for ages without a drink. There are ground covering grevillea species as well. Then of course all the succulents, cacti and I even think geraniums, as you see people growing them in pots, but I am not so sure. Just type in drought resistant plants in google and it will give you ideas. Ever thought about trickle irrigation and a timer on the tap? Mulching is another good way to conserve water, by means of keeping the soil underneath and near the plants damp. Good luck. It is late now and I must close, but I will have a look at more of your wonderful pics tomorrow. You have so many.

Grenville - you are now official 'Mermaid' pruner!!!!! You will need gauntlets and a thornproof shirt - also Alan to extricate you from the thorns which lie in wait to ensnare the unwary!

Yes Joanne it has a good perfume too. It's what I think of as one of the good old fashioned roses. My father certainly had one when I was a girl and that's going back a few years.
Thanks everyone else for your encouragement.

That is beautiful, Chris.
This was the first rose I planted in my current garden, I just love it.
Sadly it suffered badly from black spot last year, thought I was going to lose it but think the winter was kind to it and it has pulled through. It has put on new growth but no buds yet.

Thanks - I like it too! By the way, I think the rose I named as 'New Dawn' is more likely to be 'Albertine'. Sorry to be confusing!
