Most of the roots of this are actually on the other side of the fence....I planted it before the fence was put up by the people who live behind us... so the roots are in real deep shade...:doesnt seem to bother it at all....>)

It has helped it greatly. This vine should be treated like a clematis; roots in shade and head in the sun. No wonder yours is doing so well.

I love this - is it easy to grow? I would really like one of these. Do they grow quite fast? I wouldn't have guessed it was a vine.
