Euonymus fortunei 'Silver Queen' - flower

Although grown for its evergreen foliage, this euonymus does flower if you look carefully for them

resemble the flower clusters on the Amur Maple... they are virtually invisible because they are greenish yellow...but the scent is quite aparent and the new keys have a red strip...How does this euonymus seed?

Does this flower every year for you Andrew. I've just posted a photo of one which has been in a Wiltshire garden and this is the first time there have been flowers.

SG - I think it does, but because the flowers are not very showy, I don't often notice them

Thank you for the reply. The ones on the photos I posted were immediately noticeable. I was surprised at the number and the size of the clusters which were growing in the axils of the main stems from where the secondary stems grew. I brought the ones in the pics home in the hope of rooting some of the non flowering cuttings.

I found them quite easy to root. When I moved house, I brought five cuttings with me, stuck them in a corner of the garden and left them. By the following spring, all five had rooted

Thank you I will try that. I often stick cuttings in next to where a plant is growing and find it usually works. I had a closer look at the flowers which are fast going over and the reason they are so obvious is because they are actually growing on the short stems too. They are on quite long stalks with the cluster of flowers at the end and they peep out past the leaves. I'll try and get a better pic if we go back there soon.
