Has anyone ever grown a laurel arch?
Would it need supports or could the branches just be intertwined.

etoille de hollande climbing rose
as a bit of an amateur this may seem a daft question but I have had a climbing rose over an archway which flowered last year from July to November so I was reluctant to prune it. I then left it and asked my partner to cut it back. This was only last week? Is it possible to cut a rose to short as it is only about 6 inches tall now with the main branches which are about 3 inches in diameter. And have we left it too late to flower this year?

I planted a montana in a large tub last spring and it has established well and has grown up and over a garden arch. However I am confused, the books say not to prune, however the tag that came with the plant says in its first year I should cut back to about 18" - I`m really not sure what to do. It is already sprouting buds high up on the plant. Any advice welcome.

we purchased this shrub <2years ago, 1st year had luscious green leaves but over the last two winter-spring seasons the leaves which we have are red and very few, at the moment there is no evidence of buds. It is climbing an arch on a south westerly position which never dries out, clay soil around but when we planted we made sure that there was pea gravel to prevent it from becoming waterlogged. it is now may and we wonder if the plant is on its way out. any advice would be gratefully recieved.

Can anyone suggest a reliable variety of climbing (not rambling) rose. We're not particularly fussy about the colour - though a peachy or apricot colour would be nice. The most important factor is that it should be a disease resistant variety as we seem to be prone to powdery mildew on our other roses. We spray but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Whilst a good continuous flowerer would be preferable, it shouldn't grow too rampantly as it will be on the rear wall of the cottage where a narrow path runs alongside.

Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki'
How far back can you prune this plant and it stil be hardy? I see in the pic you tree formed yours. I have some at the shop that are more shrub form and want to put in landscape 'tree-form'.
