About this plant
Genus: Bergenia.
Species: Bergenia cordifolia.
Has been in the garden for many years, and is well established around base of Moss Rock.
A quote from BBC gardening seems to accuratly describe what we have growing here in Finland:
"Naturally found in Siberia, this tough perennial has broad, leathery leaves which make dense ground cover when established especially if grown in a group. Although green in summer, the rounded foliage often becomes tinted purple in winter. Its nodding rosy flowers in early spring are held on knee-high stems."
