So difficult to work out the name of established plants the were planted long before we had the garden.

This is bergenia. They come in a variety of colours. I like your bright pink.

Sorry yours didn't do well. This plant seems to like our European climate. It's in a partially shaded spot where the soil is quite good because the previous owner had ducks and chickens etc running there.

I've not heard of that before. Some white bergenias turn pink as the flowers age but this one stays white

i actually found this growing in from next doors garden under a load of brambles, it was just 2 weedy looking stems that i stuck in the ground, and this is the result! mind you i have put endless amounts of soil improver into the soil this year to get everything going quickly - it must have thought that all it's christmases had come at once after being burried under the brambles for so long.
